Free Application Week
Get ready to apply for college for free! The second full week of October is officially Free College Application Week in Texas. From October 13-19, 2025, Texas residents can apply to any Texas public college or university for undergraduate admission, including first-year freshman and transfer applicants, without paying an application fee.
How To Waive Your Application Fee
- Texas Residents applying via ApplyTexas will automatically have the fee waived.
- Texas Residents applying via Common App should select this fee waiver option: “I am a Texas Resident and will submit my application during the Free College Application week”

Automatic Admission
Some Texas residents (both freshman and transfer) may be eligible for automatic admission. Review the requirements below.

Coordinated Admissions Program (CAP)
CAP is an alternate pathway to enrollment offered to Texas residents who are not offered regular admission. Students spend their freshman year at another UT System school and are guaranteed transfer admission to UT Austin if all requirements are met.

Texas Advance Commitment
Texas families with AGIs up to $100,000 receive full tuition coverage, and those with AGIs up to $125,000 receive guaranteed tuition support.
