School of Architecture
Professional Residency Program
The Professional Residency Program (PRP) offers upper-level architecture students a unique opportunity to expand their education through work experience, providing internships to architecture students at 300 firms in 30 countries. Students will further develop professional skills, gain a practical understanding of advanced design and explore aspects of the profession beyond academia, strengthening their professional profile at graduation.
McCombs School of Business
Canfield Business Honors Program
Accepts incoming students.
Canfield Business Honors majors graduate with a BBA in Business Honors and have the opportunity to learn with a specialized case-based curriculum in small groups. Students have exclusive access to honors classes, networking opportunities, special events and a study abroad program. They receive personal career coaching, and graduates have a 100% job placement rate for those seeking industry positions.
Texas Honors Computer Science and Business (Texas CSB)
Accepts incoming students.
Texas CSB provides a rigorous four-year undergraduate curriculum aimed at a wide range of students — from aspiring entrepreneurs to students interested in data analytics, marketing analytics, financial engineering, and leadership roles in tech companies. Be part of UT’s Computer Science and Canfield Business Honors programs, both widely recognized as ranking among the top 10 programs in their respective fields, both nationally and internationally. Students will graduate with both a Bachelor’s of Business Administration and Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science and must be accepted to both programs.
Texas Honors Electrical and Computer Engineering and Business (ECB)

At Texas ECB, students hone two of the most in-demand skills, and much more. This program combines the interdisciplinary field of electrical and computer engineering with the problem-solving and organizational skills of a business major. In two of the top ranked national undergraduate programs, students participate in hands-on labs and group projects, learning to solve complex engineering problems with real-world applications while taking a human-centered and future-focused mindset. Students will graduate with both a Bachelor’s of Business Administration and a bachelor’s of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering and must be accepted to both programs.
School of Civic Leadership
Major in Civics Honors

Students majoring in Civics Honors will ask the big questions — how do you safeguard freedom? How do you sustain the American political project? Students will explore these questions and more, developing leadership skills, preparing for a meaningful professional life after college and studying ideas like liberty, economics, technology, education, law, diplomacy, arts and culture, and the common good.
Moody College of Communication
Moody College Honors Program
Accepts incoming students.
The Moody College Honors Program provides an intimate and supportive community for the cultivation of critical thinkers, engaged citizens and transformative leaders. The program includes small, discussion-based classes that apply toward students’ degree plans, access to special lectures and events with top communication professionals and opportunities to make a difference through service and community engagement. The curriculum is designed to supplement any Moody College major.
Cockrell School of Engineering
Engineering Honors Program (EHP)
Accepts incoming students.
The Cockrell School of Engineering offers a select group of students the opportunity to participate in the Engineering Honors Program (EHP), a non-curriculum-based program with an optional thesis which awards merit scholarships to first-year participants. Students will also be considered for honors housing. Some students in the Engineering Honors Program complete an optional thesis at the culmination of an undergraduate research experience.
Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Honors Program

The Chandra Family Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Honors Program is an honors program for outstanding and highly motivated ECE undergraduate students. The ECE Honors Program provides a rigorous, challenging and faster-pace curriculum and environment to a cohort of students who have the background, ability and the desire and motivation to pursue a more demanding track.

In the first-of-its-kind Texas Robotics Undergraduate Program, certain engineering and computer science students can earn a Robotics minor within an innovative program designed for those eager to dive into the world of robotics and passionate about solving pressing societal challenges. Students have the opportunity to work with leading experts, engage in breakthrough research and participate in collaborative projects using cutting-edge technology.
Jackson School of Geosciences
Departmental Honors Program
The Jackson departmental honors programs is closely tied to the pursuit of advanced research projects. Doing an undergraduate research project or thesis can significantly enhance a student’s resume and prospects for advancement to graduate school.
School of Information
Informatics Honors Program
The Honors Programs in Informatics provides ambitious and focused students with an opportunity to do independent research in the form of a substantial thesis: students will develop an honors thesis subject and proposal for one semester; then in the second semester the student will write and defend a final honors thesis.
College of Liberal Arts
Liberal Arts Honors

With small classes, top professors, individualized coursework, and an active learning community, Liberal Arts Honors broadens students’ worldview and prepares them to lead. Students call this program the best of both worlds—the personal attention of a small liberal arts college with the resources of a major research institution.
Plan II Honors Program
Accepts incoming students.
One of the top honors programs in the country, Plan II is a small, selective group of students exploring the issues and questions that shape the human experience in discussion-based courses across the arts and sciences. The Plan II degree plan is interdisciplinary subjects as varied as biology, literature, history, psychology, physics, economics, mathematics, and art all intersect. Students earn a major in Plan II and often pair it with another major, both within and outside of the College of Liberal Arts.
Humanities Honors Program
Humanities Honors is an interdisciplinary major that students design themselves built by intellectual interests that cannot be adequately pursued through departmental majors. The program is a good fit for students with a very specific interest or with a range of interests they want to connect. Students join a small community to explore their interests through coursework and a thesis project, and go on to a variety of graduate programs and professional industries.
Junior Fellows Program
The Junior Fellows Program is a society of juniors and seniors from the University at large who are engaged in independent research projects under the direction of members of the faculty. Fellows are required to attend meetings of the group for project presentations and feature discussions led by eminent scholars from on and off campus. Fellows have the opportunity to participate in field trips, seminars and other academic activities.
Departmental Honors Programs
Most departments in the College of Liberal Arts offer honors programs to their majors. The admission application process is determined by the individual departments. Admission to the Liberal Arts Freshman Honors Program is not a prerequisite for Departmental Honors. For more information, review the Thesis Manual and contact the departmental honors advisor for your major.
College of Natural Sciences
Dean’s Scholars
Accepts incoming students.
Dean’s Scholars students earn a Bachelor’s of Science honors degree in majors offered by the College of Natural Sciences. They take smaller courses with a tight-knit community, developed specifically for honors students and complete an innovative, interdisciplinary, research-centered curriculum that features more elective hours than standard degree plans, ending with a thesis project.
Polymathic Scholars
Accepts incoming students.
A polymath is someone with multiple interests, so the Polymathic Scholars Honors Program is for science majors with multidisciplinary interests beyond or within the sciences. Polymaths begin their studies with “Originality in the Arts and Sciences,” a course that emphasizes authentic, creative research. In their second year, they design a field of study shaped by their own questions, culminating during their last year in a substantial research thesis and presentation.
Health Science Scholars

The Health Science Scholars program (HSS) offers exceptional students who are interested in the health professions and committed to community service a unique opportunity to enrich their undergraduate education. HSS brings together the best of two worlds: the close-knit community of a small program and the ample resources of one of the world’s leading research universities. Requiring significant writing and a demonstrated and ongoing investment in service sets Health Science Scholars apart.

School of Nursing
Nursing Honors Program
Accepts incoming students.
The Undergraduate Nursing Honors Program mission is to prepare high-achieving students at the baccalaureate level in nursing science and leadership. Honors program students enjoy working with a faculty mentor on research, taking special honors sections of selected courses, completing an honors project and presenting their work at a professional conference or poster session.
Steve Hicks School of Social Work
BSW Honors Program
The BSW Honors program challenges students to see the world as presenting research questions that can be answered through the application of social work theories and values. Students conduct their own research related to the social work field and write a thesis under the direction of a social work faculty member.
