Military-Affiliated & Veteran Students

As the top university in Texas for veterans, UT Austin takes great pride in ensuring veterans and military-affiliated students feel supported at every step of their academic journey.

Before You Apply

  1. Decide on your top three majors

UT Austin has a competitive application process. There are times where students do not receive their first-choice major. Because of this, we recommend choosing three options and researching any prerequisites they require so you’re ready to apply.

  2. Determine what kind of applicant you are

Freshman students have not been enrolled at a university as a full-time student before, while transfer students have. Learn which distinction is right for you and its subsequent deadlines on our Apply page.

  3. Explore your benefits and tuition options

While our Office of Financial Aid provides a wide variety of financial aid and scholarships, we recommend visiting our Veteran and Military Services department to learn about options specifically for military-affiliated students. They can be reached at utveterans@austin.utexas.edu or by phone at 512- 232-2052.
