Eligibility Criteria

  • Beginning Fall 2026, UT Austin has a new pilot program model using a transfer admission pathway (TAP). Students must apply to UT Austin as incoming freshmen and may be selected for TAP at St. Edward’s University through a competitive review process based on academic preparation and potential to benefit from this pathway model. 
  • Selection is by invitation only and offered to a limited number of applicants, including students applying from outside the state of Texas. 
  • Students offered TAP at St. Edward’s University must confirm interest, submit an agreement to confirm participation by stated deadlines and complete all St. Edward’s University enrollment next steps. 

Curriculum Requirements

Students who attend St. Edward’s University through TAP will begin taking courses during the traditional fall semester (Fall Start) 

Fall & Spring : Take 15 hours each semester 

  • Students will enroll in a minimum of 15 credit hours each long semester. 
  • Students will need to complete 30 credit hours by the end of the spring semester.

Scholarships

  • If you attend St. Edward’s University as a TAP student, you are eligible for an Academic Excellence Scholarship for fall and spring semesters if you are enrolled as a full-time student and meet the academic credentials.  
  • You will also be considered for need-based aid if you file a FAFSA by the March 15 priority deadline. 

Housing

Students who patriciate in TAP at St. Edward’s University must reside on the SEU campus for the 2026-2027 school year and follow the SEU Campus Residency Requirements. Learn more about housing using the contact information below:  

Testing

TAP students must be TSI complete in mathematics, English language arts/reading and essay in order to enroll in classes at St. Edward’s University. Students must provide ACT, SAT, STARR, AP test scores, completed college coursework or other qualifying exemption to St. Edward’s University prior to enrolling in courses. For questions regarding TSI, please contact St. Edward’s University’s TSI Office  

Selecting St. Edward’s University

  1. Indicate interest via email invitation.
    Students selected for this program will get an email offer from the UT Office of Admissions. If interested in TAP at SEU, submit the online interest form.
     
  2. Complete TAP Agreement selecting St. Edward’s University by March 15. 
    Once your TAP agreement is submitted, UT Austin will initiate processing of your submission. Subsequently, you will receive an email from St. Edward’s University containing your student identification number and login credentials for the St. Edward’s University applicant portal. The email address provided on your UT Austin online application will be used to send this information. Please allow up to 10 business days from the date you submit your TAP agreement to UT Austin to receive access to the St. Edward’s University applicant portal.
      
  3. Receive St. Edward’s University ID and pay the enrollment deposit fee by April 15.
    The TAP program has limited space, available on a first-come, first-served basis. After UT Austin processes your submitted agreement, St. Edward’s University will give you access to the applicant portal to pay a $500 enrollment deposit. Complete these steps quickly to secure your spot. The deposit is accepted until 5 p.m. CDT on April 15 or until the program fills, whichever comes first.
