A commitment to opportunity in higher education
The University of Texas at Austin is committed to providing opportunity to students historically limited in their access to higher education.
It’s why we created Texas Advance, a scholarship initiative aimed at supporting the success of hard-working, economically disadvantaged Texas high school students.
What is it?
Texas Advance programs include:
Most awards are $20,000, or $5,000 a year for four years. (That amount, when combined with other federal and state aid, may pay the entire cost of tuition, fees and books!)
In addition, students in select programs get the chance to participate in one or more of our invitation-only academic learning communities, which offer unique opportunities to connect with renowned faculty, dedicated staff and other Longhorns.
How do I qualify?
Eligibility is based on family income. Consideration is based on academic performance and involvement outside the classroom.
To qualify for consideration:
- Submit a complete application for admission by Oct. 15 for priority consideration.
(Applications received by Dec. 1 will be considered as funds are available.)
- Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)* by Dec. 1 for priority consideration, or no later than March 15.
We’ll take it from there. Because if you’re in, we are too.
