An Offer from UT Austin

We are happy to offer you four years of free tuition and a scholarship towards guaranteed, on-campus housing if admitted to The University of Texas at Austin.

You received this offer because your hard work has led to considerable academic achievements. We hope that you will apply to UT Austin and consider becoming a Longhorn.

UT Austin has selected you to be guaranteed the full Texas Advanced Commitment (TAC). This means if you are admitted, the program will cover four years of in-state tuition. In addition, we will guarantee an on-campus housing scholarship of $1,800 per year.

That’s an approximate $60,000 value to you and your family.

To receive these scholarships, you need to apply to UT Austin by December 1, 2024 and be admitted. We encourage you to apply to UT Austin by the Early Action deadline of October 15, 2024. You will automatically be admitted to UT Austin if you are in the Top 6% of your high school class.

Application Instructions

The following steps outline how to start your Longhorn journey.

  1. Prepare and Research

    When you apply to UT Austin, you may apply to a specific major or undecided in one of our 13 colleges and schools. Certain majors have specific requirements. Find out more about our majors, colleges and schools on our Colleges & Degrees page.

  2. Apply to UT Austin  

    You can apply to UT Austin online via the Common App or the Apply Texas application.

    We will waive the application fee. Just check the fee waiver request box upon the application.  

    As a reminder if you are in the Top 6% of your high school graduating class you will be automatically admitted upon application. You should confirm with your school regarding your rank.

    We will need some Application Materials to evaluate your application.

    1. Essay and Short Answers: Submit at least one essay and some short answer prompts.  Essays and Short Answers

    3. High School Prerequisites: You need to have completed or be on track to complete certain high school coursework to be competitive for admission. High School Prerequisites
    4. SAT/ACT Scores: Submit at least one set of scores (SAT and/or ACT — no SAT Essay or ACT Writing scores required).

  3. Apply for Additional Financial Aid through FAFSA or TAFSA

    If admitted, you will be attending with UT Austin with four years of free tuition. In addition, we will guarantee on-campus housing and a scholarship of $1,800 per year towards it.

    We encourage you to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) once it becomes available (currently expected in December 2023). There is no charge to complete the application. This will bolster your financial support to help with other expenses, such as textbooks and other fees. If you are not eligible for federal aid due to immigration status, complete the free Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA).
