Applying for Scholarships & Fellowships

Although graduate students are generally not eligible for traditional scholarships, there are a number of ways to secure funding for your graduate education at The University of Texas at Austin.

Opportunities include:

Fellowships and Awards

Fellowships, awarded to both new and continuing graduate students, generally require no service from the recipient. Award amounts vary; some fellowships provide for payment of tuition and required fees in addition to the stipend.

Students must be nominated by a graduate advisor to receive fellowships administered by the Graduate School.

Student Employment

Teaching and research assistantships provide valuable experience and financial support for graduate students, who assist faculty members in teaching undergraduate classes or in their research. For students who are unable to find academic positions, employment opportunities also exist both within and outside the university.

The Graduate School offers additional information about finding and applying for graduate student employment opportunities.
